A JAPANESE PORCELAIN VASE, MAKUZU KOZAN (1842-1916). Of ovoid form finely decorated featuring crabs and various seashells including abalone, conch, clam and scallop on a graduating pale green ground. Signed 'Makuzu Gama Kozan sei' in underglaze blue. 23cm tall. Meiji period (1868-1912). Provenance: Acquired in Bonhams Fine Japanese Art sale in 2009.

As purchased from Bonhams with a small repair to the rim. The repair however is very good and not noticeable.
