RARE CHINESE SONG / YUAN DYNASTY POTTERY BUDDHIST ZODIAC JAR. Decorated with appliqués comprising six lotus leaf panels containing human figures and the twelve animals of the Chinese zodiac. Moulded vajra (Buddhist sceptre) appliqués around the shoulder. Complete with cover which is decorated with an incised geometric pattern. Yunnan province. c.12th – 14th Century Firing fault to edge of cover. Height 24cm.
Provenance: from the collection of the late Brian Page (1938-2018), the well-known Oriental art and antiques dealer from Brighton.
