A RARE SET OF CHINESE PAINTED AND ENAMELLED BISCUIT PORCELAIN LUOHAN FIGURES, ATTRIBUTED TO ZENG LONGSHENG, REPUBLIC PERIOD. A complete set of the eighteen Arhats seated on rockwork bases, each dressed in robes and posed with their attribute. Each with impressed seal marks to the interior of the base reading 'Zeng Longsheng zuo'. 16cm - 18.5cm tall. (18)

Ref: Zeng Longsheng (1901-1964), a celebrated potter at the Jingdezhen kilns who specialised in figural sculptures. A complete set of the Eighteen Luohan by Zeng Longsheng can be found in the collection of the University Museum and Art Gallery, The University of Hong Kong.

Provenance: From the estate of a prominent Peranakan family, Khoo Sian Ewe (1886 - 1964), thence by descent.
