TWO SETS OF IMPORTANT CHINESE HISTORICAL LITERATURE, EARLY 20TH CENTURY. To include:

1. “Ten Comprehensives” (20 Volumes, complete), and “Index to Ten Comprehensives” (1 volume, complete). The 21 books are first edition, published by The Commercial Press around 1937, in the period of Republic of China. Hardback with covers (one book missing cover).

“Ten Comprehensives” is a collection of ten encyclopaedias on statecraft written between the 9th and the late 18th century. Its constituents are three different types of encyclopaedia with one model each for which several supplements were written in later ages, according to the Chinaknowlege.de website.

This set of books becomes one of the most important editions in Chinese history study field. “Ten Comprehensives” is included in Encyclopaedia of China.

2. "Twenty-five Histories Supplements" (6 volumes, complete), published by China Zhonghua Book Company in 1956, first edition second print. The books are hardcover with cover lid. This set was one of China Zhonghua Book Company’s key programs, according to the company’s 110 anniversary report.

27本书为《十通》全套加《十通索引》，以及《二十五史补编》全套。《十通》为商务印书馆在中国民国时期1936年左右印制，初版，属于王云五主编“万有文库”系列，精装版带书皮（除一本外）。《二十五史补编》为中华书局1956年的一版二印，精装带书皮，系用开明书店原版重印。

《十通》包括《通典》（一册），《续通典》（一册），《清朝通典》（一册），《通志》（三册），《续通志》（三册），《清朝通志》（一册），《文献通考》（二册），《续文献通考》（二册），《清朝文献通考》（二册），《清朝续文献通考》（四册）。

两套书均为中国历史研究最经典的版本。此版本“十通”作为词条被收录进《中国大百科全书》第三版。《二十五史补编》在中华书局“110周年”回顾报告中被列为重点项目。
