A rare Vietnamese 15/16th Century bracket-lobed pottery dish. Decorated with underglaze cobalt blue and overglaze polychrome enamels of which there are only remnants left. The central motif in underglaze blue which outlines an image of a carp turning into a dragon, would have originally been detailed with overglaze enamels, filling in the motif with scales as well as cloud decoration and further decoration to the edges of the dish. The incised decoration of scales and clouds are still visible as well as geometric detailing to the rim. Diam. 15.5cm
Provenance: Purchased from a private collection, Bangkok Thailand, 2004.
